Lower Child Care Fees

Hastings County has 27 Licensed Child Care Service providers, with over 62 sites who are participating in the

 Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care system.

The Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system is making child care more affordable for families. What does this mean for families in Hastings County?

 

The Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system supports quality, accessibility, affordability and inclusivity in licensed child care. CWELCC is a five-year plan that is being implemented in stages, to make child care more accessible and affordable. Fees will reduce every year, reaching an average fee of $10/day by 2025-2026.

 

The CWELCC system intends to:

  • Create more affordable, quality licensed child care spaces; 
  • Support the early childhood workforce through enhanced compensation, training, and professional learning opportunities; 
  • Improve accessibility by addressing barriers to providing inclusive and flexible child care.

CWELCC allows families lower child fees. Your child must be enrolled in a licensed child care centre or licensed home child care program that has opted in to participate in the CWELCC child care plan.

CWELCC

Your Child may be eligible for 

reduced child care fees if:

REDUCED CHILD CARE FEES

The amount that you will save depends on the current fees your child care provider charges. As of January 2023 the rate reduction is 52.75% of April 2022 rates. Parents or guardians of children five years of age and younger do not have to apply to receive a child care fee reduction if eligible as above. If you are on subsidy, your child care fee may be lowered by up to 50% through the CWELCC System.


If your licensed child care providers choose not to opt into the CWELCC Plan they must notify you. If your child care provider did not opt in, you will not be eligible for reduced child care fees.
