Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
A Primary Care Paramedic is a Provincially-recognized and qualified graduate of a college program, employed by Hastings County to provide pre-hospital medical care to our communities. He/she is trained in the use of 16 different medical skills and procedures, as well as the administration of 13 different medications. Furthermore, he/she acts in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures, legislation and paramedic practice documents as set forth by the Ministry of Health, the Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario, Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services, and Hastings County. Primary Care Paramedics also serve our communities in swabbing centers and in the administration of vaccines, as well as various community activities such as teaching first aid and CPR to various groups or staffing events.
Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)
An Advanced Care Paramedic is a Provincially-recognized and qualified graduate of a college program, employed by Hastings County to provide pre-hospital medical care to our communities. He/she is trained in the use of 23 different medical skills and procedures, as well as the administration of 27 different medications. Furthermore, he/she acts in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures, legislation and paramedic practice documents as set forth by the Ministry of Health, the Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario, Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services, and Hastings County. Advanced Care Paramedics also serve our communities in swabbing centers, and in the administration of vaccines. They also serve as a part of Hastings Quinte Community Paramedic program, as well as taking part in various community activities such as teaching first aid and CPR to various groups, or staffing events.
Our paramedics are also proud to be contributing members of various inter-disciplinary groups or allied agency initiatives, for the benefit of our communities.
