Financial Assistance
If you qualify, Ontario Works can provide you with money to help you cover the costs of your basic needs (eg. food and housing costs). This is called financial assistance.
The amount of money you may receive from Ontario Works will depend on your:
- family size
- income
- assets, and
- housing costs.

How much money
Start by using the Eligibility Estimator to find out if you qualify. You may be required to contact your local Intake Access Centre or Ontario Works office either by phone or in person.
Use the Social Assistance Office Locator to find an office near you. Ontario Works staff will talk with you about your situation and you can decide if you want to complete an application.

If you qualify for Ontario Works, you may also be eligible to receive a variety of other benefits such as:
- prescription drug and dental coverage
- eyeglasses
- diabetic supplies
- moving or eviction costs
- employment-related costs
