Writer/Reporter – The Valley Gazette

We are looking to hire a Writer-Reporter. We are seeking a highly motivated, community-minded person to join our team. The successful individual will love meeting new people and enjoy telling the stories that matter most to the community. This position can lead to a full-time position at The Valley Gazette.

Experience is preferred but we’re willing to work and train the right individual.

The new Gazette Reporter will:

• Keep their finger on the pulse of the community
• Have a natural curiosity about the world around them
• Work with a small team of reporters and freelance writers
• Write stories throughout the week
• Cover various events, ranging from municipal council meetings to chasing breaking news
• stories
• Foster relationships in the community
• Help manage social media

• Previous experience in journalism would be an asset
• Have a nose for news
• Must have good organizational skills
• Must have leadership skills
• Personable and tactful
• Must have own vehicle and own your own camera
• Must be able a team player and follow directions from the publisher
