St. Francis Herb Farm (SFHF), located in Barry’s Bay, is one of Canada’s leading herbal supplement brands with over 30 years of uncompromising quality and service to our valued customers. Our mission is to empower people on their wellness journey through education and plant medicine.

SFHF is currently seeking to hire a diligent, detail oriented individual to join our team as a Procurement Manager. This is a contract, full-time term position covering a maternity leave.

Reporting to the President-CEO, the successful candidate will carry out duties as shown below.

  • Management in the purchasing of herbal products, packaging materials and raw materials needed for finished goods production.
  • Purchase order requirements: order placement, tracking in-process orders, change orders and delivery dates.
  • Work closely with accounts payable and operations staff to ensure purchase orders are appropriately tracked and verified for accuracy.
  • Assist by compiling and comparing pricing information to determine St. Francis Herb Farm wholesale pricing.
  • Regularly update supplier information including new suppliers as necessary and research other suppliers for pricing benchmark and comparison.
  • Participate in re-order point meetings, sales and operations meetings, product change notification meetings and activities that impact purchasing.
  • Monitor inventory control and apply discipline to ensure production maintains adequate stock.
  • Arrange transportation to and from St. Francis Herb Farm of goods used in the manufacturing of SFHF products and the return of products.
  • Obtain quotes from different logistics companies to determine best service and most economically feasible.
  • Create strategies for increasing supply chain efficiency.
  • Source high quality and cost-effective supply chain partners for new and existing product lines.
  • Resolve claims for and against suppliers in case of non-conformance of product or services.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms, and provide support to other departments as needed.
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements and fluctuations in demand.
  • Lead and manage purchasing operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.
  • Assistance to other office staff with their tasks during busy periods may be required.
  • College certificate in business with equivalent work experience in purchasing and logistics is an asset.
  • SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) certification is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an MRP (Material Requirements Planning) or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) supply chain environment.
  • Strong computer Skills: MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook (email) and internet navigation regarding supplier and logistics support. RLA experience is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of experience in warehouse inventory and order processing experience is preferred


  • Multi-tasking and flexibility are necessary in this position.
  • Self-directed individual able work with little direction both independently and as a team player.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and negotiating skills in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating purchasing activities.
  • Problem solving: able to anticipate issues and recommend and implement solutions.
  • Results-focused: ability to achieve results and surpass targets.
  • Excellent time management skills required in busy environment.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn and adapt to new software such as St. Francis business management system.
  • Possess high level of ethics and integrity.
