Description:
Family Health Teams (FHTs) are tasked with providing patients with timely access to high-quality, comprehensive team-based primary care in their local community. The Madawaska Valley Family Health Team is a small, rural family health team associated with a group of six physicians. We are located in an area that has a high burden of chronic disease, low average socio-economic status and is historically under-served for health care services. The Madawaska Valley is known for its beautiful scenery of lakes, rivers and forests characteristic of the Algonquin Park area, ample outdoor recreation opportunities, and a strong sense of community.

We are seeking to recruit one or more passionate and collaborative individuals for the position of Medical Receptionist. This is a casual, part-time position.

Summary of Duties

  • Answering phones, booking appointments, greeting and checking patients and maintaining the flow of the front office
  • Assisting health care providers with front office administrative tasks
  • Maintaining front office organization including forms, contact lists, files and petty cash
  • Receiving cash payments from patients for third party services
  • Exercise good judgment
Qualifications
  • Completion of a medical office administration program including medical terminology and/or equivalent experience is required
  • Post-secondary education in a related field such as business administration is an asset
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Windows, Microsoft Office programs, email and internet research.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR), preferably Accuro is an asset
  • Experience working in a family health team is an asset
  • Familiarity with a Mac OS environment
  • Able to travel and hold a valid driver’s licence
  • Willing to work outside regular business hours on occasion
  • A collaborative and positive attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality
  • Capacity to adapt quickly to a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Proven participatory work style; ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in a very active work environment
