Statement from Warden Rick Phillips

“As we lower our flags across Hastings County in memory of the 215 children of the Tk’emlύps te Secwépemc First Nation whose bodies were found at the former Kamloops residential school, it is a reminder of the need for all residents of our County and Canadians across the country to reflect on our past and embrace reconciliation.

Hastings County values the strong and supportive relationships we share with our neighbours in the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Territory, our Algonquin communities and indeed all Indigenous peoples. Understanding our past will help us seek a brighter future together.”
