Media Release

Today, the County of Hastings announced the lineup of buildings and attractions for its inaugural Doors Open event. This free event takes place Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Doors Open Ontario is a province-wide celebration of community heritage. It provides residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy sometimes hidden and interesting places and spaces in our communities – and it’s all free of charge!

Whether you’re walking from location to location on a lively downtown street or meandering along a backroad in search of a hidden gem, each one of Hastings County’s unique Doors Open locations are filled with wonder and discovery. Coupled with the height of Mother Nature’s vibrant Fall colours, this will be an autumn adventure to remember.

Doors Open will showcase the rich history and heritage of our region. In-person locations speckled across the County give visitors an opportunity to discover the story behind each door. With live demonstrations, guided walking tours, audio clips and literal open doors to peer into, each community and organization has chosen to ‘activate’ their location in their own unique way.
