New Cultural Portal

The following was written by Luisa Sorrentino:

The Cultural Portal website was launched at the Cultural Summit on October 6 2015.

The idea behind it is to provide an online resource for cross promotion and collaboration for everyone involved and/or interested in culture, business and events in our region.

You can contribute to the website by posting comments, blogs and content you wish to share with the community.

One of the most useful tools on the website is the Regional Event Calendar that shows you all the events happening in the area; this section allows you to post your event and gives you the valuable opportunity to link the page with and create traffic directly to your website (subject to approval).

Once you become a trusted partner with the portal, you can integrate your calendar with the Regional Event Calendar and all your events will automatically populate it.

You can create emotional connections to your organization by adding stories that highlight successes and divulge the history and culture of the area.

The cultural map shows all the 755 cultural assets that were found through the cultural mapping process. The framework is explained and displayed in detail by clicking on the Cultural Plan/what is cultural planning/cultural mapping tabs.

The website is a convenient resource for all the citizens and visitors of the Belleville, Hastings County and Quinte West area, but especially useful for those who want to see their organization or business on the map, as one of the cultural assets.

If your business is new you can put it on the map by clicking on the pin, and emailing the administrator.

Once the asset is approved you can literally put your name on the map!
