At our office we try to come up with a topic or theme each month or so to guide our social media activities. For September and October the focus is on "Investing in yourself". As I outlined in my last blog post, school isn't just for kids. Continuous learning is important for anyone, including entrepreneurs.
Things happen and change fast. Take for example technology. The Apple iPad has only been around since 2010 and now it isn't uncommon to see people using them at meetings, to take photos or to order off of a menu at a restaurant. I also think of popular games like Pokemon Go. How are businesses taking advantage? It's all happening fast. Gone are the days when a simple website could be setup like an online brochure and forgotten about.
It sounds simple to encourage entrepreneurs to keep up-to-date on the latest trends by attending seminars and workshops. I know it's busy running a business and there are only so many hours in the day and you may be challenged with not enough support staff to cover you while in training. Nonetheless, I encourage you to explore the numerous affordable and sometimes free opportunities for training right here in our own backyard.
Take for example the free course introductions being offered by Loyalist College this Fall. There's even a free introduction to Cheese Making.
Maybe you want help with Facebook for your business. During Small Business Week (October 17 to 21) there's a couple of seminars planned in Bancroft. Find out more here.
There are also plenty of other course offerings that might interest you here.
If there's a particular type of training that you'd like to see offered locally, and you know others would be interested, let us know and we can see if it can be pulled together!
