Maintenance Specialist - Full-Time

DUTIES    

•    Perform various types of maintenance and repairs to the facility including carpentry, drywall plastering, painting, plumbing, mechanical and electrical.
•    Conduct inspections with applicable Contractor and provide context to Home operations relating to specialty trade area. 
•    Interpret, recommend and advise the Manor in its requirements, within the scope of the specialty trade.
•    Conduct audits, record general, remedial and preventative inspections, repairs and installations.
•    Perform diagnostic evaluation and service on commercial grade dietary, housekeeping, laundry and nursing equipment
•    Perform diagnostic evaluation and service on commercial boilers, HVAC systems and other equipment as required.
•    Source and order supplies and parts as needed.
•    Maintain accurate records with respect to project work, maintenance requests, preventative maintenance, security checks, and daily audit readings.
•    Provide general assistance to the residents and team members to ensure the efficient operation of the Home.
•    Participate in various committees, departmental meetings and educational opportunities.
•    Be aware of and follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Hastings Quinte Long Term Care Services and County Policies.
•    Be aware of and follow emergency response procedures including all practice drills.
•    Be accountable for the delivery of high quality, safe and reliable care along with a safe work environment to ensure and protect the health and safety of those who use and deliver the programs and services provided by Hastings Manor. This includes the mandatory reporting of alleged, suspected or witnessed abuse or neglect of a resident.
•    Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS
•    High School Diploma or equivalent.
•    Trade certification in a specialty area (electrical, mechanical, plumbing etc.).
•    Building Facilities Maintenance Certificate or Certification or other related post-secondary school education
•    Class “F” Driver’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
•    One to two years’ experience in the electrical/mechanical field, preferably within the Healthcare Sector.
•    Proficient in the use of computers.
•    Knowledge of B.A.S. (Building Automation Systems).
•    Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
•    Ability to troubleshoot, read and interpret architectural electrical schematics, blue prints and mechanical drawings.
•    Demonstrated ability work with minimal supervision. 
•    Ability to effectively communicate with the elderly, fellow employees and the general public.
•    Aptitude to follow written procedures and verbal instructions from supervisory staff.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a team to ensure cooperation and excellence in resident satisfaction.
•    Ability to be available for all shifts and after hour call-ins


HOURS OF WORK:    Typically 8am-4pm Monday to Friday, every other weekend, Call-ins, on-call

WAGE RANGE:    $27.48 (probationary rate)
