Hastings County has an opening for one (1) permanent full time Dietitian position at Hastings Centennial Manor in Bancroft. Reporting to the Dietitian Food Services Manager, the Dietician is responsible for the resident care program in accordance with Ministry Standards.

Geographically it is the second largest county in Ontario, stretching almost 160 kilometers from the Bay of Quinte in the south to the edge of Algonquin Park in the north. Residents’ health care needs are served by Quinte Health Care Corporation (QHC) and family health teams throughout the County. QHC runs three hospitals in the Town of Bancroft and cities of Belleville and Quinte West. It also owns and operates a hospital in Picton in Prince Edward County.

Guiding Principals:
• Practice and uphold the mission, vision, values of Hastings/Quinte Long-Term Care services that focuses on a person-centered care philosophy.

 

Leadership and Oversight:
•Consult and collaborate with team members the Medical Director and Attending Physician
•Promote positive team member and resident relations.
•Collaborate with community partners and resources.
 

Program Delivery:
•Provide nutrition counseling and education to residents, families, and team members.
•Assess the nutritional status of the Residents and develop individualized care plans; implement, monitor and evaluate plans, ongoing
•Participate on committees and attend meetings as required. Including but not limited to Quality Improvement Committee, Resident Multidisciplinary Conferences, Accreditation
•Monitor and evaluate nutrition/hydration status of residents.
•Evaluate and modify as needed therapeutic diets, supplemental nourishments, and enteral feedings.
•Address individual resident nutrition needs and complete Dining Program
•Assist with menu development, review and evaluation including meeting with Resident Council in accordance with the FLTCA and Regulations
•Maintain appropriate documentation and records. Ensure systems are in place for accurate monitoring and documentation in order to evaluate nutrition and hydration status.

•Ensure that legislated requirements are being met for dietitian hours
•Adherence to confidentiality and the Personal Health Information Protection Act.
 

Health & Safety:
•Immediately report and document all incidents of alleged, suspected, or witnessed abuse or neglect of a resident in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Home Act, 2021 and home policies and procedures.
•Be aware of and follow emergency response procedures including all practice drills.
•Be accountable for the delivery of high quality, safe, and reliable care along with a safe working environment to ensure and protect the health and safety of those who use and deliver the programs and services provided by Hastings Manor.
•Works in a safe manner in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, associated regulations, other applicable legislation, County policies and procedures, and guidelines.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
•Four-year Bachelor of Science Degree or related field of study
•Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing
•Internship/Masters
•Superior planning and management skills.
•Demonstrated leadership ability.
•Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate sound decision making, time management and administrative skills.
•Strong written and oral communication skills.
•Ability to promote strong community linkages for sharing resources
•Proven knowledge and understanding of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and its regulations an asset.
•Membership in the Gerontology Networking Committee of Dietitians of Canada preferred.
•Active member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management preferred.
 

Hours of Work:
•Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours/week).
•Occasional overtime may be required for project completion.
 

Salary Range: $82,168 – $96,125 per annum, with excellent fringe benefits
