County Administration Building Custodian - Temporary Full-Time

Our Facilities & Capital Infrastructure Department is accepting applications for a temporary full-time County Administration Custodian (approximately 2 months).

DUTIES:
•    Perform general custodial duties such as cleaning of all offices, washrooms and public areas.
•    Perform general floor care to all floor surfaces as well as vacuuming and steam cleaning carpets.
•    Collect garbage and recycling daily and remove from the building according to pick-up schedule.
•    Lock and unlock building including arming and disarming the alarm system.
•    Perform many types of minor repairs to the building including carpentry, plastering, painting, plumbing, mechanical and electrical.
•    Provide HVAC service including cleaning, replacing filters and belts and minor repairs.
•    Disbursement of stationary and other supplies to departments as requested.
•    Provide assistance for all deliveries and movement throughout the building.
•    Complete inspections and updates for fire equipment and all WHMIS products as required.
•    Prepare stock orders, and maintain storage of products in a clean and orderly fashion.
•    Move, assemble and install office furniture and equipment when required.
•    Property maintenance including grass cutting and trimming, sweeping and garbage pickup on grounds and in parking area.
•    Shovel snow and clear ice on walkways and building entrances.
•    Provide on call service, within the building, during work hours.
•    Other duties as may be required from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Grade Twelve Graduation Diploma. 
•    Several years’ experience in custodial and cleaning practices.
•    Ability to be thorough and pay attention to detail.
•    Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills when interacting with staff and general public.
•    Experience with floor cleaning equipment and general floor care practices would be an asset
•    Experience using hand tools and in the completion of minor building maintenance and repairs is preferred

HOURS OF WORK:    40 hours per week with 2 rotating shift schedules (7-4pm and 9-6pm)

WAGE:             $25.25/hour + 4% vacation per pay + 14% in lieu of benefits
