NEW - Draft County of Hastings Official Plan 2017

The Planning Department is responsible to ensure land use is consistent with the County’s Official Plan as well as all relevant provincial policies, legislation and regulations. It is also responsible for economic development and for providing an effective and efficient Hastings-Quinte 9-1-1 service. The Planning Department works with and advises the member municipalities, the Planning Advisory Committee, and the public on development and long-term planning policy.

The Planning Department works with other organizations, including the provincial ministries involved in land use and environmental policies and regulation. The department also works with staff of member municipalities and partner municipalities on matters of growth and development.

Moderate or slow growth and modest demand for urban residential and employment lands is projected for the County of Hastings given its aging population. The Planning report of July 15, 2013 provides some background information and next steps regarding the update of the Hastings County Official Plan.
